Our Mission
ApplianceCodeFix exists to solve a simple problem: when your appliance breaks, you deserve better information than generic troubleshooting guides that tell you to "check the power cord" or "call a professional."
We believe you deserve to know:
- What actually works — not what manufacturers say should work
- What it really costs — based on what owners actually paid
- When to DIY vs. call a pro — based on success rates, not scare tactics
- Which parts to buy — OEM vs. aftermarket, based on reliability data
Why We're Different
Most appliance repair content online falls into two categories:
- Manufacturer documentation — technically accurate but often incomplete, designed to push you toward authorized service
- Generic SEO content — rewritten manufacturer docs with no original data
ApplianceCodeFix takes a third approach: data journalism. We aggregate thousands of repair discussions from online communities where real owners share their experiences, then extract and analyze the data to find patterns that no single person could see.
📊 Example Insight
"Among 456 Samsung washer owners who reported the 4E error code, 72% who tried cleaning the inlet filter reported success (n=234). For those who needed to replace the inlet valve, the average DIY cost was $45 with an 89% success rate (n=156)."
This is the kind of specific, actionable information that only emerges from analyzing real-world repair data at scale.
Our Independence
ApplianceCodeFix has no relationships with appliance manufacturers. We don't receive free products, advertising revenue from manufacturers, or any form of compensation that could influence our data or recommendations.
Our revenue comes from:
- Display advertising (general ads, not manufacturer-specific)
- Affiliate links to parts retailers (clearly disclosed)
- Tool recommendations (when genuinely useful for repairs)
Importantly, our affiliate relationships never influence our data. If aftermarket parts show better reliability in owner reports, we report that — even if OEM parts pay higher commissions.
Our Team
ApplianceCodeFix is built by a small team of data engineers, journalists, and appliance enthusiasts who believe in the power of transparent, data-driven information.

Our Values
Transparency First
Every statistic we publish includes the sample size, data sources, collection period, and methodology. We believe you have the right to evaluate our data quality yourself.
Acknowledge Limitations
Our data comes from people who post online about their repairs — which may not represent all appliance owners. We explicitly acknowledge selection bias and other limitations in our methodology.
Safety Above All
Some repairs are dangerous. We clearly distinguish between DIY-friendly fixes and those that require professional expertise. When in doubt, we err on the side of caution.
Continuous Improvement
As we collect more data, our statistics get better. We update our content regularly and mark when information was last verified.
